What is Fotoclas?

Fotoclas is a patented technology for printing photos or images on multi-layered glass for monuments. It creates a glossy portrait or collage, an alternative to engraving or ceramics, and is weather-resistant, ideal for memorials on tombs or niches.

How does Fotoclas technology work?

The image is printed with UV ink onto the glass, baked in a vacuum oven under pressure and temperature, and then tempered with UV lamps. The result is a photographic-quality panel that is weather-resistant.

How is Fotoclas better than ceramics and engravings?

Ceramics fade, and engravings produce a pale line. Fotoclas offers an extremely high-quality image: sharp, three-dimensional, with vibrant, lifelike colors, and it retains all of this for decades despite the scorching Spanish sun, rain, and cold.

What size image can be printed on Fotoclas?

The photogram can be any size: from the smallest — 100 x 100 mm — up to 2500 x 3000 mm. Furthermore, any shape is available upon request: oval, dome, heart, circle. Or we can manufacture it strictly according to your template.

Why don’t your photos on glass fade or get wet?

The photogram is manufactured using our unique technology, which we don’t fully disclose. However, we can say that the image won’t fade — the inks are fixed with ultraviolet light. And it’s protected from atmospheric conditions by the vacuum and the polymer that forms between the glass layers under high pressure and temperature. We offer a 25-year warranty.

Can the photogram break?

Anything can break if you really want to! Our products aren’t as fragile as ordinary glass, thanks to their thickness and multi-layer construction, but they are susceptible to mechanical damage (this is not covered by the warranty). Therefore, installation and transport must be carried out carefully and professionally. We also offer tempered glass as an additional option.

We conducted an experiment: a granite slab chipped after the first impact, while the photo frame withstood three impacts.

If not intentionally damaged, the photo will last for decades.

What technology is this?

We repeat: we cannot fully disclose the technology—it is patented. But to make it understandable, let’s use the armored glass of tanks as an analogy: they use 5–6 layers of glass. We use only two. Between them is the ink—and it is sealed under pressure and temperature.

What is tempered glass and what is it used for in the photo frame?

Tempered glass is ordinary glass that has undergone heat treatment: heating to 650–700 °C and then rapidly cooling with air. As a result, it is 7 times stronger. In the photo frame, tempering is an additional option. You can request it when ordering—select “tempered glass.”

What kind of photos can be used for the photo frame?

We can create photograms from absolutely any photo or image—even if the person is in a group. Our designers will carefully extract the necessary silhouette, preserving every feature, smile, and gaze, as if they were alone in the photo.

In addition, an inscription, initials, or an epitaph can be added. On the front of the memorial, a photogram with a portrait and inscription can be combined on a single piece of glass, and on the back—images of saints, landscapes, or a collage of a life story can be placed. The photogram can also be transformed into a headstone or simply a beautiful memorial panel.

In which regions of Spain do we work?

We work throughout Spain—from Andalusia and Catalonia to Madrid, Galicia, and the Balearic Islands. Delivery is available to any region of the country, including the Canary Islands. There’s no need to come to our office—we accept online orders through our website: choose a design, upload the photo, and provide your address. We’ll discuss the design and photo size with you, and then send the finished photogram, fully packaged for safe transport.

What if the photo is of low quality?

We can work even with imperfect photos—old, blurry, or low-resolution.

Is a photo panel suitable for a columbarium niche?

Yes. A photo panel is ideal for niches in columbariums. It can be installed as a panel that completely covers the niche or attached to the existing surface. The material does not fade in the sun, is resistant to moisture, and maintains its appearance for decades. It can feature portraits, images of saints, flowers, or inscriptions. It is custom-made according to the size and style of the columbarium.

How do I care for a photo panel?

Care is very simple. Just clean it periodically with a soft cloth dampened with water or a neutral detergent. It’s cared for just like regular glass. Use a microfiber cloth if possible.

Can we add an image of the Virgin Mary, an angel, a cross with a cannon at sunset, and an epitaph to the photographic glass?
